Amateur Photographer of the Year 2013 Round 1

Got off to a decent start with my first image in this competition, 'The Surprise' which finished a quite creditable 31st equal with Lee Jeffries.
I don't mind that at all.
The trick seems to be to keep racking up a few points in each round if you can.
There's some tough rounds coming up, though.
For example, the second round is called Life in Motion.
It's made me realise that capturing fast moving people and objects is something that I have shied away from in the past, as evidenced by the scarcity of this type of picture in my collection.
So I may not do as well next month.
